Autumnal Holo Colours Mani

October is here, the leaves on the trees are changing colour, nights are rapidly drawing in, the clocks will soon go back and summer is now certainly a distant memory. With that in mind I wanted to use colours that have a strong Autumn vibe to them.

Here I have combined two polishes for each nail. We have:

Yellow: Potion Polish – Marvelous Maple Topped with il etait un vernis – Hello Sunshine

Purple: Leighton Denny ‘Raspberry Afair’ Topped with Tonic ‘The Answer is 42’

Blue/Green: Nails Inc ‘Gosfield Street’ Topped with ILNP ‘Interstellar’

Red: Nails Inc ‘Saville Row’ Topped with ‘New Burlington Place’

ILNP Shelfie

Following on from my previous post, I thought I’d do a shelfie of my ILNP collection.

ilnp-shelfie

ILNP is by far my favourite brand at the moment, I love everything about it – It is perfectly formulated and glides on a treat, it’s self levelling and the colours are to die for. As someone with a degree in packaging design, I LOVE the bottle & the black box. The thickness and shape of the bottle glass, the rubberised lid and the subtle black logo all work together to tick all of the boxes of both function & form.

I can generally wear these for a week or sometimes more without any sign of chipping, although, I rarely get chance to keep polish on that long.

The colours are as follows (in no particular order):

‘Ten Fold’, ‘Mega’, ‘Music Box’, ‘My Private Rainbow’, ‘Peri Me’, ‘Home Sweet Home’, ‘Daisy Jane’, ‘Top Down’, ‘Fall Semester’, ‘Jello Shot’, ‘I See You’, ‘Purple Plasma’, ‘Bikini Bottoms’, ‘Interstellar’, ‘Shoreline’, ‘Champagne Blush’, ‘Kings & Queens’, ‘Lilac Bridges’, ‘Poetry’ & ‘Clockwork’

If you are tired of mainstream polish brands and want to try something a bit different, then I urge you to invest in these beauties.

ILNP Ten Fold

The colour Ten Fold from the 2015 Summer Ultra Holos collection is pretty difficult to describe, I guess I’d say it is a mix between a mint and a light teal that you could liken to a mermaids scales. The ultra holo formula is full to the brim with intense holographic sparkle and the formula is perfect as it glides on effortlessly and is fully opaque in three fast drying coats. I found the colour to be very similar to CBL ‘Enjoy Mint’ which I bought at the same time but was unfortunately advertised as a totally different shade (Being a designer by trade I am pretty obsessed when it comes to colour).

ILNP Ten Fold

I love my teal nails polishes and I love anything glittery so this is the absolute best of both worlds! I highly recommend it.

Available from Hypnotic Polish, Rainbow Connection or directly from their Etsy shop here.

Born Pretty Stamping Polish

Introducing Born Pretty Stamping Polish… Today I have a lovely Teal colour which I stamped over the beautiful silver holographic ILNPMega‘.

Born pretty stamping

Mega is so stunning and the most intense holographic I have seen. It applied really well and get this – it looks amazing over darker shades if you just use one thin coat.

Anyway, back to the stamping. For this I used my Born Pretty clear jelly stamper and scraper along with my Pet’la peacock 2 plate. If you’ve never seen them before, Pe’tla plates are made of brass and are really deeply etched. I bought mine from a Facebook group buy but have put a link above if you are interested in buying them direct. I have a number of other plates to try from them also.

The colour scraped easily on the plate using the clear scraper, it was more flexible than scrapers I have used in the past and I seemed to get on with it better – I think this is my go to scraper from now on. The stamper picked up so well, it was amazing, pretty much no gaps in the pattern at all, the only thing I would say is that the pattern stretched when I was stamping it, but to be honest that is probably more to do with my lack of skill than a problem with the stamper.

The only negative comment I have about this mani is that the polish had a very strong chemical smell, however that said, I do have a really good sense of smell, so other people may not find it a problem.

Good as Gold

Gold Polishes

Hello Lovelies!

Today is a rather grim day in the U.K. at least it is in the South, it’s raining, raining, raining, so I thought I’d brighten it up with a few swatches of some of my gold polishes in my collection.

Here we have the following polishes:

Nails Inc – Lanesborough Place

Picture Polish – Magic

Femme Fatale – Euna

ILNP – I See You

4 Gold Polishes

I have been collecting Nails Inc polishes for over 5 years, therefore I am not sure that this colour is still available to buy, however if you did want it I’m sure it can be found on eBay or on Facebook Nails Inc swap pages if you keep an eye out.

PiCture POlish is an Australian brand but you can buy the range from a number of online outlets including Hypnotic PolishRainbow Connection, Live Love Polish, Harlow & Co, The Nailista Shop & Color4nails.

Femme Fatale cosmetics is a reasonably new brand to me, they do some great thermal polishes including ‘Glass Coffin‘ one of my favourites, so if you haven’t already, I urge you to pop over to one of their distributors here.

Last but most definately not least ILNP. This is currently my favourite brand, I LOVE everything about them, their packaging is beautiful, the formula applies like a dream, it dries quickly and has staying power. I drool over the colours and my collection is growing rather quickly even though in reality I own enough polish to last me ten lifetimes so don’t really need anymore! You can buy from  ILNP directly, from Rainbow Connection or on Etsy (However the postage is very expensive here if you are only buying a couple). Also there are a number of Indie nail polish selling sites on Facebook such as this one – Nail Sale where if you keep an eye out, you can snap up a bargain every so often.

So, there you go, some beautiful golds from four great brands, go check them out, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Dark Pink Nails

Hello! I hope that you are all fine & dandy and enjoying the bank holiday?
My nail art today is a sheer white/pale pink base from Essie which I really can’t say enough good things about, I use it so often – ‘Ballet Slippers’. This is topped with ILNP ‘My Private Rainbow’, which is so subtle it takes a number of coats to actually show up and even then you can only see the holo in bright light and sunshine, but when you do see it it is stunning. The Dark pink I’ve used is MoYou ‘Sweet Lips’ and the Holo pink is Bear Pawlish ‘Like a Virgin’ which is rich in holographic particles and a great colour. I added the dots with a dotting tool and set the tiny pearls into Seche Vite ‘Dry Fast top coat’ and the nail stamping was applied using ‘Apipila Superplaca A’

If you are U.K. based you can get ILNP & Bear Pawlish from Rainbow Connection and Boots & Superdrug sell Essie. The stamping plate is available from here.

Pink & Red Flower Nails

Pink & Red Flower Nails

Dark red & pink manicure with handpainted flowers & leaves

I’ve been trying to come up with a creative description for these nails and all I can come up with is ‘Pink & Red Flower Nails‘! how rubbish am I 🙂

For this Mani I used a base of two coats of the new ILNP ‘Daisy Jane‘ which is a stunning pastel pink jelly with a subtle holo. I then went on to paint my index and pinky finger with Cadillacquer ‘Glowing Christmas‘ and painted the flowers on freehand using a fine brush and the following polishes:

Nails Inc ‘Pavillion Road

Nails Inc ‘Saville Row‘ &

China Glaze ‘OMG a UFO

I hope that you like!
